Map Poster
Your camera roll already knows where you’ve been.
Map Poster reads where your photos were taken, on your iPhone and never uploaded, and lights up every city you’ve been to on one map. Check in the places that matter and each becomes a poster worth hanging on the wall.

Your Photos Remember Every City
The Story
From One Poster to Every Place
Map Poster began as a way to turn one place into wall art: the street where you met, the neighborhood you grew up in. People kept asking for the rest of the map, all the places they had been and couldn’t quite list. The answer was already on their phones. Every photo you take remembers where it was taken. Version 2.0 reads only that (the location and the date, nothing in the picture itself), right on your iPhone, and turns years of camera roll into a map of everywhere you’ve been.
How It Works
Let your photos light the map
Give access to your library, or only some photos. Map Poster reads where each was taken, offline against a built-in city list, and lights up every city: your first trip, last weekend and everything between.
Check in the ones that matter
Open a city to see its photos and where you took them, then check in. Each check-in becomes a map poster in your Collection and earns points toward your next level.
Print your world
Make a poster of one city, your whole world, or any place you choose, and export it for print or as your Lock Screen.
What's Inside
Your Travel Map, From Your Photos
Every city you’ve photographed lights up on its own. See how many cities and countries you’ve been to, and your progress in each country.
Check In, Get a Poster
Check in a city and it becomes a map poster in your Collection. There is no limit on how many cities you light up or check in, free or not.
25 Badges, 8 Levels
First city abroad, 10 countries, both hemispheres, north of the Arctic Circle, a second home. Points for every city, check-in and country move you from City Newcomer to World Citizen.
Replay Your Footprints
Watch your map fill in month by month. The last 12 months are free; Premium goes all the way back to your first trip. On This Day shows where you were on this date in past years.
World Footprint Poster
Every city you’ve lit up on one world map, the countries you’ve visited tinted and your places listed, in Night Gold, Paper or Ink. Filter by year or range. Preview free; save and share with Premium.
Your Year in Five Pages
New places, your most-photographed city, countries and badges, ending with a card to share. The cover is free; Premium opens the rest.
A Poster of Any Place
Not only where you’ve been: any city, the street where you met. Drop a heart, pin or star on the exact spot and write your own title, like “Where We Met · 2024.05.20”.
17 Styles, Your Colors
Noir, Classic, Midnight and Blueprint are free. Premium adds Neon, Ink, Terracotta, Ocean and the rest, your own colors, heart, circle and arch crops, and buildings and railways.
Print Up to 8K
Export in 4K or 8K for print (Premium), with ratios from 2:3 to A-series and square, or save any poster as your Lock Screen.
Private by Design
Only where and when each photo was taken is read, on your iPhone. Photos are never uploaded, there is no account, and you can share only some photos or pick a few yourself.
What Is Free, and What Map Poster Doesn’t Do
Map Poster is free to download. Lighting up your map, checking in cities, badges and levels, four poster styles and the last 12 months of your replay are free, and you can preview the World Footprint Poster and open the cover of your Year in Review. Free posters carry a small Map Poster mark.
Map Poster Premium lets you save and share the World Footprint Poster, opens the full Year in Review and your whole replay, and unlocks all 17 styles, custom colors, heart, circle and arch shapes, buildings and railways, 4K and 8K export, and posters without the brand mark. Choose weekly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase. If you bought Map Poster before, Premium stays unlocked.
Cities only light up from photos that carry a location, so a camera with location off leaves no trace. The app reads your photos offline, but drawing the map and searching for a place by name use online map data (OpenStreetMap); searching by name covers 21 countries, while any city your photos lit up works anywhere. Map Poster makes the file; it doesn’t print or ship posters.
Made for Memories & Travel
Bucket lists, photo calendars and maps of everywhere your photos have been.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Map Poster know where I’ve been?
It reads the location and date saved with each photo and matches them to a built-in list of cities, on your iPhone. The pictures themselves are never looked at or uploaded, and no account is needed.
Can I give access to only some photos?
Yes. You can share only some of your library or pick a few photos yourself. Only those light up the map, and you can add more later.
Is Map Poster free?
Yes. The travel map, check-ins, badges, four poster styles and the last 12 months of replay are free. Map Poster Premium adds the full replay, saving the World Footprint Poster, the full Year in Review, all 17 styles and custom colors, shapes, buildings and railways, 4K and 8K export, and posters without the brand mark. Choose weekly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase.
I bought Map Poster before. Do I pay again?
No. If you bought Map Poster while it was a paid download, Premium stays unlocked for you. Just update the app.
Can I make a poster of a place I haven’t been?
Yes. Make a poster of any city or spot: where you met, where you grew up, where you’re moving. Drop a heart, pin or star on it and write your own title and subtitle.
How large can I print it?
With Premium, posters export in 4K or 8K and the app shows how large each frame ratio prints sharply, up to A2 or 18×24 in. The World Footprint Poster saves at 3000×4000. Print it at any local or online print shop.
Which cities can I search?
Searching for a place by name covers 21 countries, including the US, UK, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Cities lit up from your photos work anywhere in the world.
