SpendPal

By the end of the month, you know where it went.

Not roughly — actually. That costs you one line a day. Type tacos 11.40 and press enter. SpendPal reads the amount, files the category, and writes it onto today's page. A paper notebook that happens to do the arithmetic — and nobody asks for your bank.

The Story

Every Money App Wanted the Same Thing First

Your bank login. Then an account, then a dashboard, then a red screen when you went over. The apps that could tell you where the money went were the ones you stopped opening. Meanwhile the thing that actually works — a notebook, one line per purchase — has no arithmetic in it. SpendPal is the notebook with the arithmetic put back. You write the line. It does the sums. Nobody else is in the room.

How It Works

1

Write one line

The thing, then the amount: coffee 3.40, bus 2.75, groceries 48. Plain words, no form to fill in. The keyboard is already up when you arrive from the widget.

2

Let it file the line

SpendPal reads the amount off the end and puts the line under food, home, fun, bus or etc — or, with Premium, categories of your own. It learns your regulars, so the second coffee lands in the right place without being told. Tap any row to fix it.

3

Read the month

Set one monthly number. A single bar fills as you spend, next to what you spent last month and where it went. No alerts, no red screens, no charts you didn't ask for.

What's Inside

✍️

One Line, Then You're Done

Write in plain words and let the app sort out the rest. Amounts with a dot or a comma both work. Tap the date to flip back and write into an earlier day, so a forgotten lunch still ends up on the right page.

📖

Drawn by Hand, Not by a Spreadsheet

Every page is handwriting on paper, and a small mascot called pal keeps you company in the corner. It's the rare money app you don't mind opening.

📏

A Month You Can Read at a Glance

One number for the month, one bar that fills as you spend, and last month right beside it with where it went. Day, week and month trends are in from the first line; year and all-time open with Premium.

⚡️

Two Seconds from the Lock Screen

The widget shows today's total and a line to write in. Tap it and you land in the app with the keyboard already up. Small and medium Home Screen sizes, plus rectangular, circular and inline Lock Screen sizes.

🔒

Nobody Asks for Your Bank

No account, no sign-up, no bank login, no server of ours. Everything lives on the phone. iCloud sync is on by default and goes to your own private database — one tap to stop. Deleting the app deletes the data; that's the point.

💾

A Backup You Hold Yourself

Keep a backup file wherever you like — Files, a drive, an email to yourself — and put it back whenever you need to. Premium adds CSV import and export for anything that wants a spreadsheet.

🌙

Paper at Night, Too

A dark mode that actually looks like paper after dark, not a black rectangle with white text. Works with no connection, ever — on a plane, underground, in a shop with no signal.

💱

34 Currencies

Dollars, euros, yen, yuan, won, rupees, pounds, francs, kroner, real, pesos, baht, dong and more — picked for you from your region, changeable any time.

🌍

Ten Languages

English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Español, Português (Brasil). No ads, no tracking, no email asking you to come back.

Two Things Worth Knowing

SpendPal is manual on purpose. It does not connect to your bank, scan receipts, import statements or remind you about bills. If what you want is an app that watches your accounts while you do nothing, this isn't it — the notebook works precisely because you wrote it.

And the first five lines are five in all, not five a month. They're a taste of the book, not a small allowance that quietly renews. After that it's Premium — weekly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Backups, older pages and everything else stay open either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SpendPal connect to my bank?

No, and it never asks to. There is no bank login, no account and no server of ours. You write each line yourself, in plain words, and that is the whole method — the notebook works because you wrote it.

How do I enter an expense?

Type the thing and the amount, in that order, and press enter — tacos 11.40 or bus 2.75. SpendPal reads the amount off the end, files the category and writes the line onto today's page. It learns your regulars, so the second coffee lands in the right place without being told. Tap any row to fix it; tap the date to write into an earlier day.

Where does my data live?

On your phone. iCloud sync is on by default and goes to your own private iCloud database — nothing passes through us — and it is one tap to switch off. You can keep a backup file wherever you like and put it back later. Deleting the app deletes the data.

What do the widgets do?

The widget shows today's total and a line to write in. Tap it and you land in the app with the keyboard already up. Small and medium Home Screen sizes plus rectangular, circular and inline Lock Screen sizes are included.

What do I get before paying, and what does Premium add?

The first five lines are yours to write — five in all, not five a month — with five categories and day, week and month trends. Premium lifts both limits, adds year and all-time trends, and turns on CSV import and export. It comes as a weekly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Backups, older pages and everything else are not gated.

Does it scan receipts or remind me about bills?

No. SpendPal does not scan receipts, import bank statements or send bill reminders. It is a notebook for what you spent, written by you, one line at a time. If you want an app that watches your accounts for you, this is not that app.
